Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr is hopeful Ademola Lookman would decide to play for Nigerian instead of the Three Lions.
Lookman was part of the English U-20 team that conquered the world in 2017 scoring thrice in the tournament.
The 21-year-old reportedly turned down a chance to play for Nigeria when approached by the German tactician in 2017.
That however, has not stopped the Rohr from courting the youngster, although he admits it would be a difficult process.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he said :
“He’s a player we know can add something to the team.
“He plays for the youth now but we hope he can change his mind and play for us. Getting a player to change his national choice is not easy, quick and the process is never so straightforward.

“First we must be sure he wants to come. And hope to get it cleared by Fifa. Then the most important part is that he brings something new, different and better than we have.”
In Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru and Samuel Kalu, Rohr has variety of options on the flanks but he still wants to add Lookman to the list.
“Every coach wants options. We’ve been lucky to get some players and if we get him, Lookman will give us more options,” he added.
“But we have to be careful about how we go about this because Nigeria have some good players at home and playing outside.”
Lookman has struggled for game time since joining Everton from Charlton in 2017 but impressed on loan at RB Leipzig last season.
