Garba Lawal has impelled Coach Gernot Rohr to play Isaac Success and Henry Onyekuru regular to boast their confidence.
The Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Uganda in an international friendly on Tuesday.
While their only goal against the Bafana-Bafana of South Africa in their 1-1 draw last Saturday was an own goal.
The Ex-international has called on the team’s coach to feature Onyekuru and Success more as they try to solve the goalscoring problem.
Speaking to Goal after the stalement in Asaba, Garba Lawal said:
“The coach should give Success and other strikers the confidence to play. Success has been doing well in Watford.
“Onyekuru is also a very good striker but the coach must give them the confidence. If we don’t have belief in them there will be problem. These are two strikers that can play well in attack for the Super Eagles.
“They must be given enough playing time to show their quality. The coach must work on them to get the best from them.
“Ighalo scored home and away against Libya, fine. If a striker fails to score then we start criticising him and if he scores, he is everything. There is a time Ighalo will call it off.
“If he retires, Nigeria will continue playing just like when we retired.
The Super Eagles have qualified for the 2019 African Cup Nations to be held in Cameroon.
